The original R65, contrary to the views of some commentators has the same sized frame as the larger R series motorcycles, the R65 does however have a shorter swingarm than its siblings and therefore a shorter bolt-on rear sub.

Hi all- come check out the perfect winter restoration/modification project! Considering selling my 1979 BMW R65 that I bought to rebuild and customize into a scrambler. Clean title, 30k miles and ran well, which is why I chose this one for the project. I am only considering a sale because I have not had time to make much progress on it and I look to be swamped with work through the end of the year. The bike is stored at an indoor moto garage in Brooklyn.
The bike WORKS (was riding it upstate as recently as the end of August and can send a video of it starting up dated August 22nd), but is currently not running as I have taken off the headlight, gauges, ignition, front turn signals etc. The original gauges work properly, shifts through all the gears with no problem, I have not seen any leaks at all and it moves pretty fast for a R65!
The only two issues that would prevent it from running right now are a sticky ignition cylinder and the front tire is unseated. I have a brand new battery that I will include, and for the right price may throw in the parts I have purchased to date to customize it (Biltwell bars, LED bar end turn signals, headlight ears, shorty mufflers and more).
